In this brand new issue of Tech Crevice, we’ll look at a few hot-to-trot gadgets dropping onto the market this season. But first, let me say that I for one am dazed and mortified at the moment. Titania has discontinued support for the 404 Electric Wombat Ball Plus Server. The new version, the 505 Plus Server Plus, smells of stale youth market to me (an mp3 player in a sock, anyone?). But I guess, if I may quote my favorite band Silverchair for just a moment, out with the old, in with the fashion!

At this juncture still in post-pre-production phase (though long promised due in stores everywhere this summer) the new 2112AD Deluxe razor-shaver-phone by joint Norelco/Samsung wants to be quite the slice of life. Ever need to trim those Chester A. Arthur sideburns on a business trip while making an important call? Who knows? Featuring three complete speeds in the shaver’s turbo motor as well as auto-remember blade dialing, the 2112AD is marketed to the jet-savvy antiquarian, if one exists somewhere. Personally, after gamma testing this baby-doll this week, I must say I’m impressed with the SIM card / blade cleaner brush combo, but I was less than giddy at the amount of clog I found in the shaver chamber after only three complete body shavings and calls. The flip-side of which is that I was forced to remove the SIM card each and every time. Seems like more work than I want out of my morning defoliation/conference call shave. Still, Norelco/Samsung have the delta version to get their hairy act together, so here’s trimming at you boys!

All-in-one gadgets have become quite the rave in recent decades, so it’s no wonder someone has figured out how to combine every device one could possibly need into one ginormous thing. And that’s just what the Bult 10,000Z thinks it is. Combining a PC, phone, fax, copier, scanner, printer, laminator, binder, stapler, collator, folding machine, paper trimmer, pencil sharpener, camera, voice recorder, lighter, battery, battery charger, remote control, coffee grinder, atomic clock, crock pot, voltage meter, shoe horn, wood lathe, plasticizer, comb, dehydrator, telescope, jack hammer, pump, caulker, pogo stick, defibrillator, GPS satellite, tunnel borer, vacuum, shaver (throw out that 2112AD once you get it!), robot, and much much more, the 10,000Z is unwieldy at best. Still, I’ll let you know how I like mine once I find space in the front yard for one or two. Apparently it comes in four bizarre, trendy flavors: wasabi, concert, nerd, and polka.

Finally, I always look forward to the new hole by Hewlett-Packard. Always the kindest of crops, HP has done it again. The Hole 30SMRH is just what the hole-needer ordered. Already wearing out my Hole 25SMRA, I was anxious to try this new hole. At first I was a little miffed at the spiral case. Why the extra aesthetics? Not that this detracts from the functionality, but I couldn’t help but guess that had HP stuck with the radial pattern of previous Holes, they could have put more into the real features of this new Hole and less into casing. But where aesthetics are concerned, HP did add something I do like: faux-aged cracks. When you’re using your hole, it’s just nice to think you’re using an ancient hole. It’s also nice that HP kept the basic functional design of past Holes while improving on the smoothness of the sides a little. In a nutshell, this new Hole is a fine addition to the line. I would recommend everyone upgrade their Hole immediately!
